The mission is complete. This morning i finalized the insurance stuff at my bank, and before that i managed to tweak the bike a bit, by changing the rear blinkers slightly, and adding my custom ninjoolz logo. Everything now is how i imagined, and i'm enjoying the rides. This will be the last entry, and the ending to the story, but to all those who kept reading throughout the months, i thank you, and hope you enjoyed it. Ride safe people!, ninjoolz out!. Woot!.

Finally, the day of the ninja had arrived!. After a night of fever and barely any sleep, my co-worker came and picked up me up, just a bit before noon, and we headed off towards the register place. There was a waiting period of about 30 min, but getting the bike registered and the license plate pressed went quite fast. After we finished that, we headed over to my bank, and i grabbed a lot of euro bills. My co-worker, chris, had some other things to take care of now, and i had to wait until the late afternoon until the bike would be ready anyways, so he dropped me off back home, and there i waited. While i was waiting patiently, it started to rain like mad. Lucky for me though, the sky showed it's true beauty later on, and so i headed off to the kawasaki dealer. Since i had all my stuff with me, and was going to get a box of the original products from the bike, i had chris come pick up that stuff and my bicycle before he headed off to work. Finally though, i got to see my bike for the first time. Wow!. Even though they took their pretty time with the bike, i gota admit that the results pleased me beyond belief. It was exactly how i wanted it to be!. The rest of the day was spent driving through town and random roads, getting a feel for the bike and so on. I am blown away at how awesome that little ninja really is!. It's so very awesome!. So light and agile. I will never let this one go!. Once i got home before work i did some customizing, by adding my white wheel stripes and tank protector, which you will see very soon. After work i also had my very first night-ride on the autobahn, and everything went great. Today was just awesome beyond words. Ninjoolz has arrived!. I love it!. Tomorrow i will head over to the bank to finalize the insurance deal, and that will be the ending to my bike mission. Until then, enjoy these pictures from the initial pickup, how it was presented to me.

Another day, another phone call to the dealership. Finally i recieved some decent news this time though. The lady told me a new bike, my bike, had arrived (about time). She said they are now just waiting for the papers to arrive, so that i can come pick them up, get the bike registered. and get my license plates. Then she asked asked me what kind of windscreen i requested for it, and mumbled something about 'that should be available by now'. Hmmm, my guess is they don't actually have all the extras that i wanted, and are telling me more stories. As it stands now though, they are expecting to have the paperwork anytime from thursday to monday, so i'm hoping to have the bike (a realistic approximation), yup, you guessed it, by the end of next week. Weak!. This wait is taking ages and is getting to be really annoying. Really annoying.

I gave the kawasaki dealership a call today since they never called me even though they said they would, back on monday. As it stands, they are expecting a few machines to come in, since they are ordered for them, but the timeframe is yet unknown. Pretty lame if you ask me, but nothing i can do about it. They told me to call back on tuesday, since they will have decided by then on how to proceed. Either they will know when the machines are coming, or they will ready up the one they already have at the store right now, the one i took pictures of on the 25th. Either way, i could really care less, since each bike is brand new. Guess i'll find out on tuesday what the plan is.

July 6th 2009
Today was the big day. I woke up very early, cought a replay of the moto gp race, and then tried to sleep a bit more. Afterwards i started with a nice coffee to clear the system, and then had some breakfast. Around noontime i headed off to the garage to meet frank. He showed up just a little bit after i had arrived. I got dressed and we took a little drive through slower streets to get warmed up. Now comes the funniest part of the day. We were coming up to a street crossing, and had to yield to the traffic. Yield i did, as i saw a car coming from the left travelling rather quickly. Frank on the other hand, thought that i had already driven off, and was also looking to the left and focusing on the car, and kept driving forward. The next thing i heard was a huge "thump", and i jumped out of my seat a bit. My teacher actually rear-ended me!, his own motorcycle!. Hahahaha. At the time i didn't laugh though, rather, i was a bit shocked and confused, as i thought i had damaged his car. Luckily once we got to the tuev, where we would pick up the driving controller dude, we did some inspecting and noticed it was only a couple of scratches on the car, and the licenseplate on the bike had been bent a tiny bit. Still, that was some smooth driving from frank, heh. We waited for around 10 min until the dude showed up, and it turned out to be the same jolly character that graded my theoretical exam, so he remembered me, as being the ambitious fellow. I did some of the basic checks before the ride to show him i know my stuff, and then we headed off. Drove a bit through town, and then right away onto the autobahn. After 20 min or so, we got to a little isolated road with a roundabout, and they set up some cones for me to do the basic manuevers. I did each of the requirements once, and personally felt that i could have done them a lot nicer, had they given me more time, but one try was all that was needed, as the controller was happy. Good enough for me. We drove back on the slower city streets into town, and basically straight back to the garage. That was that. A few handshakes were done, and he handed me my license. Hurray!. The pictures were taken, and they both headed off back towards the tuev. That was the end of my 3 month journey. Success!. Afterwards i headed over to the kawasaki dealer to see how the bike was progressing, but didn't achieve much. I'm expecting a call tomorrow to get more info on the matter. Also i will get all my school lessons and such paid, and have that chapter officially finished aswell.

Had a really short night and no breakfast to start off the day, but one hell of an enjoyable ride followed. We cruised down to the industrial zone again, where i then did one run at each of the ground manuevers, and nailed them all first try. Frank was very pleased and said they all look great. Afterwards we drove back to town over the autobahn, and then through the city for the rest of the lesson. Gearshifts went great, no signs of fatigue or soreness, no complaints. I really feel good while riding now, and the confidence is truely there. Monday should be fun, i can't wait to get this over with.

June 29th 2009
Today i had another lesson. Just a normal one, to stay fit and such. The weather was sunny and 25+ degrees celcius. We spent the time riding through the city, with a couple of autobahn crossings, but mostly the slower residential zones. There was quite a lot of traffic, which caused me to lose frank a few times, as he didn't manage to get the green lights in time. I made a few tiny mistakes from time to time, but nothing that would compromise my license. Frank seems quite confident that i am ready for the test, which is good to know. The more i ride, the more comfortable i get, and it showed today. Working the clutch and gears felt great, and the stop and go sections in thick traffic also went quite smooth. On saturday we will have the last lesson, where i will practice the basic ground manuevers one last time, and then it's go time on monday!. After today's lesson i headed off to another insurance company to try to get a better deal, since my bank would start me off with crazy percentages. I headed to one just beside my bank, and they gave me a calculation of 200 euro, whereas my bank calculated 300 euro. Definatly makes a difference, so i headed over to the bank and wanted to cancel my previous arrangement with them. Long story short, after telling them the problem with the percentages, we came to a conclusion that i would still go with them, and only be on the 210% for the rest of this year, and down to 100% by the start of 2010. Half a year of high percentage i can handle, so i'm happy it worked out this way. I guess i will be choosing to pay every half year now, should be less confusing then for me, and the bank. The rest of this week will be super summer weather, so i should be out on the balcony a bunch, enjoying a few beers before i have to start drinking the alchohol free ones, heh. Maybe my bike finishes getting tweaked ahead of time, so that i could pay for it, and get the paper stuff sorted out aswell. We'll see.

So this morning i wake to the ringing of my phone. The kawaski dealer lady calls me to tell me that the black ninja has arrived!. She said that a few people have already requested it, so i should head over as soon as i can. Immediatly i was in the shower, and on the road heading to the dealership. The black one looks so sexy in real life, it's unreal. I started discussing with the boss about the extras that i wanted and such, when another guy comes into the store, also eyeing the black one. Appearantly his girlfriend was already out on the green one, taking it for a test ride. Long story short, within 10 minutes they sold 2 bikes, and now need a 3rd one for the store to display. I got lucky though, since i was a bit faster, that i should be getting the one they have in store now, and the girl will have to wait a bit. We came to the conclusion that i will get the bike, along with a stubby plate holder, a rear seat cover, tinted racing screen, and small led turn signals. The total retail price with the extras was 5350 eu or something, but he offered it to me for 4900 eu, which i then accepted. I should be picking it up on the 6th or 7th, as soon as i have my license, or maybe even prior, depending on when they finish the tweaks. On the ride home i stopped by the polo shop, and grabbed myself a nice backpack for 5 euro!, a sweet lookin gastank cover, and some white reflective rim stickers. Couldn't ask for a better way to start the day!. Now i just need to chill another 10 days and then i will be riding in style!, such style. Woohoo!.

Tonight was my last required lesson. The weather was absolutely gorgeous when i headed off to the garage, around 9pm. First we went and grabbed some gas, then drove a bit through town, a little trip on the autobahn, and back to the industrial area for some ground manuevers. Afterwards more cruising through town, and it didn't even get dark before we finished. Frank was really pleased with my riding, and manuevers, that he feels confident about the practical exam, which i now have a date for. Not telling though!, heh. It'll be a while still, so next monday we are going to do another normal lesson for the ground manuevers and general stuff, just so i have some more practice. Now the only thing missing is my bike. If the dealership here can't give me a date by next week, i am going to start looking at other places to get the black ninja at. There are a few around, but it would be a 2-3 hour drive. Wherever i get the best deal, i shall head. Was a fun day once again, but now i'm beat, so goodnight.

June 22nd 2009
Tonight the autobahn lesson got scrapped, and we decided to do two night rides instead. This way it would fit better into franks schedule. Prior to the ride, i headed off to work a bit earlier to get some hours together there. After being there for about an hour, i headed off to the garage. The weather was great, and it only started to get dark in the last 30min of the lesson. The traffic was also almost non-existant, which let me do a lot of worry free riding. The entire lesson was spent cruising the slower streets of the city, back and forth in every direction, over and over. Definatly not something anyone would ever do, and it did start to get a bit tiresome after a while, but it was still really good practice for me, especially since i didn't know most of the streets. During the ride i did do some good navigating without frank having to give me a heads up, which lead to him giving me some praise through the earpiece. A few times i couldn't hear the instructions that clearly, which lead to some confusion for us, but nothing major. Riding during the late hours is definatly enjoyable, and with my work schedule i will be doing a lot of it. Afterwards i headed back to work to finish up there. The next autobahn/night session is now planned for wednesday, unless frank attends some special event that night, which he wasn't sure about doing yet. We'll see, i still got plenty of time. Also, the kawasaki dealership is still waiting on the arrival of my bike, without having much info about it's whereabouts, so hopefully it will arrive this week. Fingers crossed.

June 18th 2009
Today the weather did play along, thankfully. Clouded sunshine, so i had nothing to complain about. Also, today i got to ride on the open bike (exactly the same model), using the full 78hp. To be honest, other than being a little more responsive on the throttle, i didn't notice that much of a difference. We cruised mostly on the autobahn, taking exits, turning, and heading back in a different direction. A lot was spent riding really fast on the autobahn, and then taking the exits, and heading into a 30km/h zone, with the usual right before left rules. This lesson was the fastest yet, as it ended when i just got warmed up. Throughout, i did make some minor mistakes again, but they gave me a good idea on things i need to work on, and avoid doing. Riding with radio communication and having to follow orders in a split second, is really multitasking at it's best, and not that easy. Overall, i was pleased with my performance, and it was another fun day. Things are getting done really fast now it seems. The next lesson is on monday night, and will be a mixture of my last autobahn requirement, and a nightride. After that one i have to do another night session, and then i will have all my required lessons behind me. Time to enjoy the weekend now with some pc gaming.

Today was awesome. The lesson was scheduled for noontime, and the weather played along very well. Pure sunshine and enjoyment was the outcome. We did a tour around the city, through the city, onto the autobahn, and also practiced some basic manuevers again. A lot of variation in speed and roads, which was really fun. On the autobahn my max speed was around 150km/h, trying to test myself and the wind. I Made a few minor mistakes, but that happens, i'm still learning after all. Tomorrow at noon is another lesson, which will be mostly autobahn. Hopefully the weather will play along.

June 13th 2009
Clouded sunshine and riding is totally awesome. For the 3rd and 4th lesson over landroads, we took another tour around the city and surroundings, and i hit my 100km/h, enjoying it very much. The wind is definatly something to battle with, but twisting that throttle and seeing the teachers car in the rearview mirror get smaller and smaller, is just pure enjoyment. After about an hour of cruising and speeding on those roads, we headed on the autobahn for a few minutes and i got a taste of 130km/h. Frank told me his holidays are on the 14th of july, much later than i thought, so i will definatly finish things before that. The next 3 lessons are already booked, and unless the weather is really bad again, i'll be finishing my landroads and autobahn requirements, and even one nightride lesson. After all those, only 1 double night session remains, and a few of the basic maneuver lessons. That means i should have all my stuff done by the end of the month, and then get my practical exam sometime at the start of july. Also, my bike should be arriving at the dealership sometime next week, as i have been told by them, again. Let's hope it really does, since i basically reserved it already. I want my ninja!, heh. Time to enjoy the sunshine and weekend now.

Today's bike lesson was cancelled by frank due to the horrid weather we are having. He said there was just too much debris on the road from the storm, but i didn't mind too much, because the constant rain would have been annoying anyways. Tomorrow i will call the dealership and see if they have my bike in store yet. Next lesson is on saturday, which should bring sunshine and fun.

June 8th 2009
Today i did things way more relaxed. Had a coffee and some breakfast, and got myself in a good mood to ride. Once i got to the garage the weather seemed stable, yet very clouded. The first thing we did was get some gas, so i got to see that for the first time on a bike. After that i took the lead and we did another lovely tour around my city and surrounding towns. Once we got outside of town a bit, the rain started coming down, which was nice to experience this early. Nothing major to complain about though, just a few droplets on the visor, which didn't bother me that much. I did notice though, that at lower speeds, my visor gets quite foggy, and i will have to look for a solution there. Later on the rain stopped, and we got to a train-crossing, which gave me a few minutes to chill and rest the hands. On the landroads i didn't feel comfortable speeding up to a 100km/h, so i usually stayed around 80-90, since it was still wet on the roads, and i wanted to be a little more careful. Frank said the next time i'll have to speed up a bit more though, heh. The bike and it's gears are still confusing me a bit, since it seems to lose power between 3000 and 5000 rpm, but picked up again afterwards, which was weird. I also felt the engine vibrate quite a bit at high rpm's which was also strange. Once we got back to the garage, my butt was pretty numb, and my hands got quite cold. A few times during the ride i even felt myself getting the shivers and shaking a bit, heh. First time battling the cold conditions at such speeds, so it's all new territory for me. The ride itself was great fun, and i even managed to make a perfect passing beside a slower truck, where frank told me i did a good job via the radio. That felt really good. Otherwise we barely had radio communication again, and he just let me cruise in peace. Once i got my next appointments, i asked him how many more lessons i will have to do before i can start the required ones, and to my surprise, he told me we just started them today!. Awesome!. He also said we'll have to knock them all down as fast as possible, and have a few more of the basic manuevers lessons, all before july, because then he is on holiday for two weeks. I guess things are getting done faster than expected, wow. Also, exchanging the uvex pants for the modeka ones was a great choice, as they are much more comfortable while riding. I felt really good wearing them, and they didn't slip up over my shoes once.

June 5th 2009
Well, since the last ride, i had a little thing bugging me, and that was my bike pants. Although they were really comfortable and looked good, they just felt too short, and everytime i had finished a ride, they popped over my shoes. Sure, a minor thing, but stuff like that just annoys the hell out of me, so i headed off to the kawasaki dealer today, looking to exchange them. Sadly, once i got there, the large version of the same pant wasn't there anymore, so i tried on a few different pairs with the help of the dealer lady. After a few tries in a small and a large, i found a pair that fit better, and that also had some pockets and air vents, which the uvex pant didn't have. I paid an additional 25 euro for these modeka ottawa pants, but am quite happy as to how they fit. I shall test them on monday during a real ride. You can see them in the picture below. Also, while i was there, i asked the lady again about the black ninja, since she told me last time that they were to get one in stock soon. She said they are expecting one to come in sometime next week, and no one has reserved it yet. I might be getting my bike sooner than i think, hehe. Left my number and asked for her to call me once they get it. Things are back on track, phew (except the financial aspect of it).

June 3rd 2009
After having a nice weekend, i came home to stress at work and other annoying things, which put me in an angered mood. Yesterday my school called me and asked if i could cancel my theoretical test appointment, to let someone else take my place. They pushed and pushed, but i refused to play along because i want to finish this stuff, since it's already been close to two months. Today then, i had another bike lesson in the morning. It didn't rain, but was very clouded and windy. I was still very angry and such, which lead to me making a lot of mistakes during the ride. I just had too many things going on in my head, which stopped me focusing on my riding, and also to enjoy this fun time. I stalled the bike in traffic, had a lot of bad gear changes, and far too much radio communication, which left me very unpleased at the end of it. I don't even want to begin calculating the cost of all these lessons, because i'm sure it will make me frown immensly. After this disappointing morning i headed home and tried to relax. Later on i did some practice sheets, and then headed off to the pre-test lesson, to get my appointment, and pay for it. There was no trouble there, thank god, and i got my date set for next week, along with another bike ride on monday. Hopefully i can manage to remain positive over the weekend, get some household things done, and enjoy the next lesson. I definatly do not want to have another ride where i'm busy thinking about other problematic things, because it totally ruins the fun of biking. Also, by the look of things, i won't be able to keep costs under my planned 6000 euro budget. 7000 seems more likely, which sucks bigtime.

May 28th 2009
I managed to get 4 hours of sleep last night, thanks to those energy drinks, hehe. Took it easy most of the morning, and then headed off to the garage. There were a lot of clouds outside, and it had rained earlier in the morning, but luckily all that cleared up once i started riding. I followed frank in his car again, for about 500meters, and then i took the lead. I kept riding straight, concentrating on the traffic and all that good stuff, following his instructions and directions. Leading felt much nicer then following him. After a few spins through town, we headed to a little training spot under a bridge, and he set up some pylons for me, to train some of the basic bike maneuvers. I did some walking speed slalom, circling, fast slalom, dash and evade, and panic braking maneuvers, and they all went pretty well. There's just so much information to cram into your head, in such a short time, that things can get a little overwhelming. Because of that i forgot to pull the clutch once when i switched from neutral into first gear, and the bike turned off, d'oh!. After all that stuff i took the lead again, and we drove another half an hour or more through town. I rarely went faster than 50km/h, but got a good sense of the daily traffic and how to go about things. Once i didn't hear franks instructions clearly in my earpiece, so i went straight instead of turning, but that was no big deal. The entire lesson was a lot of fun, with good weather. I think frank was quite satisfied with my performance, since he didn't complain about anything, even when i asked him afterwards. It feels really good to finally see corners of my town that i usually never visit, and get a sense of the roads. Next lesson is on wednesday, which will also be when i get my paperwork for the final theoretical test. Today and tomorrow i will head to work 5 hours earlier, since a few people are on holiday, so that will buy me some much needed hours, and money. The weekend will be spent at my brothers and his wife's place, along with moms and grandma. If the weather plays along things should be fun!. I also managed to take some pictures today, from me on the bike, and my new pants. Lookin' good and riding safe!, hehe.

May 26th 2009
Awesome!. Not much else i can say about my morning other than that. I had an odd night and slept in sections, but once i got myself out of bed at 9am, i felt quite good. Headed off to the garage at 10, and met frank, who was already there. We both headed to the open learning area so i could take a few spins on the er-6n (as seen in the pictures below), and after about 15 minutes we headed back to the garage. He hopped in his car and took the lead, leaving me alone on the bike to ride behind. The next hour we drove through town and the local country roads, with speeds ranging from 20-80km/h. It was so much fun!. I only made the bike stall twice (let the clutch come too fast), once in a weird little turn, and once where we had to stop and let this big truck pass us. Other than that, he let me ride in peace behind him, with minimal radio instructions. On the ride back to the garage, we stopped at the kawasaki dealership, and i took a look at some of the pants they had. His good friend was there and gave me a 50% discount on a pair of Uvex pants. So i paid 95 euro instead of 200!. They are waterproof, and got protectors at hip and knee/shin, so everything felt, and fit me really good. I also showed frank my ninja, and asked the sales dude what kind of extras i can get pre-installed when i buy it, and he said everything could be done. That would mean a stubby plate holder, a rear tire mud guard, and a rear seat cover. I was very pleased to hear this. From there we headed back to the garage and ended the lesson. It was close to 2 hours, in windy, yet awesome partially cloudy, 24degree weather. Tomorrow is pre-test time, and on thursday morning i get to cruise again!. Oh man, what a fun morning. The dream is becoming a reality, and i made the best choices sofar. Super happy!.

May 25th 2009
Had my last theoretical class today, and it was good. Afterwards i talked to frank about tomorrow, and he said that i'll be riding the big bike instead of chasing him on the 125, which is awesome!. I'll get to cruise around on it first, like i did the 125 at a local training area, and then for the last bit he will follow in his car, giving me instructions through traffic. It is supposed to rain, but in the afternoon, and that should (fingers crossed) not affect me. I'm totally stoked, and will probably be back on it come thursday. Wednesday i will do another pre-test for the theoretical stuff, which i feel pretty confident with already. If i pass a few there, i will sign up for the final test, which should then be the first or second week of june. Time to sleep now, since i have to get up early and cruise!. Woot!.

May 19th 2009
Woohoo!. Today was my first time riding a big motorcycle, and i loved it. My teacher came and picked me up at home, and then we headed off to his garage. Since i have all my own gear, i only had to wear some oversized saftey pants, which he supplied. We grabbed his old kymco 125, and headed off towards a big learning area a few minutes away. When we got there i took the controls, and started riding. I really thought i would have more problems with the clutch and switching gears, but it turned out to be quite easy actually. After a few good minutes getting used to the bike and engine, i was cruising along quite nicely. As more minutes and laps passed, i started shifting quite calmly and with more ease. My shoes are new, and still very stiff, so that was a bit hard to deal with, also cause of the seat position on the bike. I did some laps in every direction, then some stop and go attempts, circles in each direction, braking, and slalom riding. As a first time rider, frank seemed quite impressed by my fast learning, and said that next time we will take it into traffic. I knew that i would get a hold of things quite fast, but even i left myself impressed at the quickness and ease of which i managed everything. Time seemed to pass super fast behind the handlebars, so before i knew it, we switched spots and headed back to the garage. It was a super start with lovely, yet clouded weather, and i can't wait until the next lesson, in one week. Tomorrow i have another class, and then i got the weekend to spend with my learning material. I also told him about my bike plans, and he said he would definatly head over to the kawasaki dealer with me, and get his friend there to give me a good deal. The lesson next week will still have me riding the 125, and following him on the big kawasaki er-n6, but after that i'll hop on the big one, get some practice on that, and then it's off into traffic. The plan is unfolding as it should, and i'm loving every minute of it!.

May 18th 2009
Say goodbye yzf, heh. I got up nice and early this morning after a good night sleep, and called the kawasaki dealership right away. They said they have the 250 at the store, and i could come by and take a look at it. After a shower i headed off towards the shop. It's a long ride, about 40minutes, but it was worth it. They only had the green one, which you can see in the picture below, but that was still good enough to get a first impression from. I took a seat on that baby, and wow, as far as comfort goes, this thing blows the yzf away!. The seating position is more than perfect. I could sit upright and still have a firm grip on the handlebars, without having to lean over, like i did on the yzf. It also felt a lot bigger than the yamaha, but yet nothing to frighten me off, as my feet could be planted stable on the ground. The lady at the counter told me that they would be able to order a black one, and are getting one sometime in the next month (for someone else i think), but i would have to expect a 3-4 week delay. Since i still have a few months before the license stuff is final, this doesn't seem too much of a big deal. I would have to finalize my decision and order the bike by the end of june, to have it ready for august, since that's the goal i set myself. Bike and license before august. I am definatly impressed by the 250. Tomorrow will be my first bike lesson, also on a kawasaki, a er-6n, which is very similar in terms of seating position and performance (limited to 33hp), so it will give me a proper feel as to how the 250 would ride and handle. Tonight i will ask my teacher what kind of deals he would be able to get from them, as the normal pricetag was listed at 4600 euro. Usually they will go lower when i offer to pay in cash, but if he can help me knock some more euro's off that price, it's a definate buy for me. On the ride home i decided to take a few scenic pictures, since it's such a nice day. I also want to note that the whole yzf thing was never final. I just loved the look of that bike, but the past month definatly helped me make up my mind as to what i want in terms of performance, and came to the decision that a 125 really is a kids bike, and i need something more adult. I guess i'll have to change my name to ninjoolz soon, heh.

What's that black bike doing there you ask?. Well, i have been doing a lot of researching and reviewing today, and found this baby to be quite impressive. The ninja 250r looks quite lovely, and supplies twice the power of the yzf, which i personally, find too mild. The good thing about the kawasaki is that my teacher has really good connections to them, and so i'm sure to get a better deal. The other good thing is, this bike already only costs 500-1000 euro's more than the yzf would!. Since i am investing a lot of money anyways, i might aswell go for the best price/performance package that is offered. Tomorrow i am heading down to the kawasaki dealer and hopefully he has one there for me to take a look at. Sadly they don't offer the blue edition here in europe, so i got my eyes set on the black one. If this bike impresses me in live, i think the whole idea with the yzf is history. Sofar i've read absolutely nothing but positive things about it, especially for older beginners like myself!.

May 13th 2009
Well, i woke up very early today, so i forced myself to snooze a bit longer, and then got up at about 9am. During the day i did some laundry and a little cleaning, and then started getting really dizzy in the afternoon for some reason. I tried to sleep a bit more, with no success, and so i headed off to class in the late afternoon, still feeling dizzy and a bit fatigued. The class was not very populated, which was good for me, because frank focused a bit more on myself and the other motorcycle student. It was good fun and i learned a bit more. I now have only 3 chapters to go until i've done every lesson. After class i headed over to work and did all the usual. Now it's still really early for my tastes, but i'm quite tired, so it's time for me to head to bed. Good day and good night!.

May 12th 2009
Today i forced myself to get up after only 5 hours of sleep, but it was worth it. I took a different bike route to get to my school, and visited parts of my city i had never really been to before. It was quite a nice neighborhood. When i got there i did some pre-tests, and from the official 2 that i did (half of which i had only done 1 practice sheet of before!), i passed both!, each with 1 error point to spare. I definatly want a better result, but a pass is a pass, so i guess i can't complain there!. This gave me a huge smile once again, and i'm sure it will also please my teacher. Afterwards it was too early to go to work, but too far to go back home, so i went and sat down in some little park, enjoyed the sunshine and did some more of my tests. I already feel confident with my knowledge, but once i finish the other 40 sheets the answers will be stuck in my head for sure. When the sun went down i headed off to work, taking roads i had never been to before, and just letting my instincts take me wherever, since i had absolutly no clue where i was. I turned up right at the intersection before my workplace, how awesome is that?. Work was fun and the usual, and afterwards i filled my stomach with some chicken mcnuggets. Heading to bed early tonight so i can start getting up earlier, in preparation for next week. Tomorrow is another class, and i'm looking forward to another great sunny day. Things are coming along perfectly!.

May 11th 2009
What a start to the week!. Sometime in the morning i was up and browsing forums for bike stuff, when i saw the clock and realized i better get some sleep. Woke up in the afternoon and figured out my plan for the night. I headed off to the polo shop again, but left a little bit earlier because i wanted to try on the jacket i've been keeping an eye on this whole time, and also to check if they have some cheap shoes i could buy now, incase the others don't get in fast enough. I got there and tried on the jacket, luckily they had it in medium, which was what i had planned to get. It fit quite nice, but just to be sure i also tried on a small, which didn't really make much difference other than being shorter at the waist, so i stayed with the medium, since i could also wear a sweater underneath if things get too cold during the winter. I looked at the cheap boots, but of course, as always, the size that i need wasn't there!. They had one above it, and one below it, but not the ones that fit me, doh!. I went over and asked the girl who put out the order for my others, if she has other sizes hidden in the back maybe. No deal. Then out of curiosity i asked if maybe the others had arrived already, because they were available online, and i wasn't sure which would be the faster choice. She started browsing the computer and ta-da!, the size i was hunting for had arrived today, but was hidden somewhere in the storage area, since they hadn't had the time to unpack their shipment yet. I asked her to please try and find them, cause i would take them with me if she did, and even tho she was a bit skeptical, she found them within a few minutes. I tried them on, and they fit wonderfully!. Done and done. Bought myself the shoes and the jacket, and then quickly headed off to class, since i was about 5 minutes behind schedule. I arrived just in time to grab the last seat, and enjoyed the course with a big smile on my face. Afterwards i headed off to work, and as it got later, i strapped on the shoes and wore them for a bit to get the feel for them. Very stiff!, but really comfortable and supportive. When i got home i tried on the whole gear, as you can see in the pictures below, and adjusted the protectors in the jacket to fit my body better. Wearing the jacket, helmet and gloves made me sweat quite a bit, so i can't even begin to imagine how hot leather clothes would get. Thank god i didn't buy those after all!. I'll probably end up getting new gloves aswell, since mine are quite old and a little torn up already (and really stinky!), but that can wait for now. Oh yeah, before i forget, my first bike lesson is scheduled for tuesday the 19th!. Finally, things are moving along!. Tomorrow i'm going to go to the pre-test training course to see how i'm doing, and get my errors explained. After that it's another normal class on wednesday, and that should lock down my 12 required lessons. But i find it quite fun, so i will continue to go until i've done all the 17 lessons. That's it for now, Awsome day!.

May 9th 2009
Well, i finished work nice and early last night, but only got about 1 hour of sleep. I did some practice sheets during the morning hours, and got pretty good results, so i was quite pleased. Later on i headed off to my 3 hour bike-only lesson, and it was really good fun. There were only 3 people, including me, so it was very knowledgesome and intensive for us. It basically discussed the entire book which i read last week, with added video footage, and of course, insight from the teacher. It was definatly what i had hoped for. I suppose the only downside is, that i am required to have shoes that cover the ankle before i can start my physical lessons. As i have stated before though, i won't be able to get them until the 15th at least, which is a friday, so i'm guessing monday, doh!. Another week of classes and work, and patience, but then i can finally get my first ride on a big bike. Can't wait. In the meantime i'll be playing some sbk 09, on simulation settings, hehe.

May 6th 2009
Another day with barely any good sleep, as i had the heater-meter-reader guy come by and take his annual count. Later on i headed to the polo shop to check in, and it looks like i'll have to wait until the 15th at least before they get the shoes, d'oh!. Afterwards i had a nice class where i learned some stuff again, so it was good fun. After that was work and the usual. Tomorrow's class would be my 11th, but i'm not sure if i'll go yet, because it's another repeat of last weeks. It all depends on when i wake up i guess. Other than that, i'm looking forward to saturday's lesson, even if it's at 9am. It will be very knowledgesome, and then i can finally start riding next week!. Hopefully he doesn't make me wait until i have those shoes though, that would suck.

May 5th 2009
Today's class was a repeat from last week, but since i was already there, i listened again and knocked off another one of my required ones. Afterwards was a long, yet relaxing night at work. I got home at 3:30am, and as you can imagine, it's not that easy to get to sleep right afterwards. Back into the vampire rhythm. Might aswell make the best of it and enjoy the easy money though. Tomorrow i'm gonna stop by the polo shop again and see if they got the shoes in already. They havn't called me yet, even though it says one of the sizes is available online. Maybe i'll get lucky and they have them in stock, and fit me.

May 4th 2009
Had a nice class today where i learned a good amount, and then headed off to work afterwards. The next 3 days will be the same, and then on saturday morning i got a special 3 hour bike-only class. I'm going to have to try to get to sleep earlier, but that's going to be hard.

April 29th 2009
Once again the day was spent sleeping, since i'm back in the nightshift mode, sadly. Headed off to class afterwards and learned some stuff i could actually use in my bike mission. Since friday is a holiday there is no class tomorrow, so i'll be teaching myself most of the weekend with my books i guess. After class was work and the usual routine. Tomorrow i'll close off this semi-life changing month, and hope that may will bring sunshine, and me riding on two wheels.

April 28th 2009
Another day spent sleeping long. When i did finally manage to wake up, i had only a few hours before heading to class. The entire lesson was about trailers and how to connect them to your car. Does not concern me in the slightest, but at least i knocked off another one of my theoretical hours. I also grabbed the rest of my learning material, so now i got stuff to read on the weekends. Afterwards was work and the usual.

April 27th 2009
Today i slept most of the day, and then started doing some learning in the late afternoon. After that i headed off to the polo shop to try on some shoes. When i got there i saw one of the two pairs that i picked out from the online shop, but of course the one i wanted the most, wasn't there. The lady put out an order for it in various sizes and once they have them in i can go ahead and try them on. The only downside is that the size i need, won't be coming to the store until the 15th of next month, d'oh!. They will get one size smaller sooner, but i'm almost positive they will be too small for me. Either way, i'm pretty sure those will be the shoes i'm gonna buy because they are semi-waterproof and look very comfortable. After getting that stuff sorted out i headed off to class and learned mostly about alchohol and how i should stop drinking my beer before work etc. I cannot get stopped with any alchohol % for my 2 year trial period or it's going to be a huge battle to stay on two wheels, so i will definatly avoid that at all costs. After class was work, and since i was at the northern school this time, it didn't take too long to get there. Same routine as always, and back home we go. I Think i'm getting a cold though, which is giving me a bit of worry and frustration. Tomorrow is the next class, so at least the theoretical stuff is coming along fast, even if the other stuff isn't.

April 25th 2009
Well, we just got back from two bike stores. Looks like my planned items are a no-go. The size of the pants were too big for me, and none of the boots i tried seemed to fit snug. I think i tried on like 10+ pairs, but none of them gave me a safe feeling. Looks like i'll be doing more searching, and probably end up with some normal laced lo-cut boots, rather than the higher racing-style ones. I tried on a pair of those at the second shop, but didn't really like them very much, even though they fit much better. I'll be checking out the polo shop again on monday, since it's on the way to work, but to be honest, now i'm not so sure i want to spend that much money on stuff that i don't feel good about wearing. Shoes are the first priority for now, and later on some jacket and pants. Who knows, maybe i'll just stick to jeans and my normal clothes and just ride really safe, we'll see. As far as today goes, it's a pretty nice fail, being that i didn't get my wish items, but also a success, because now i know my sizes and saved a lot of money. I Still got time before it all starts anyways, so i'm not too worried about it. I'll find the fitting items sooner or later, even if it's not in a matching colour theme.

April 23rd 2009
This afternoon my doorbell rang and the dhl man delivered my 5 visors, and they all look very sexy. Also included in the package was the giant catalogue from the shop, so i started looking through that for other stuff i might need. I noted myself the jacket, pants, boots and gloves i liked, and made some comparisons. Shortly before heading off to class, i went on the shop site again and wanted to save myself some pictures from the ones i liked the most. To my surprise i noticed that all of the items which i had picked, were on sale, for the next 5 days. I quickly calculated how much i could save if i were to buy them all this weekend, and it totaled to 150 euro!. Whoa, that's a lot of savings i thought, so i asked my buddy tim if he has time on saturday to head over to the store, which lies in the next town. If all goes well i might return with the full gear, far earlier than expected. After seeing those awsome news, i headed off to my 4th class. It was another fun night, but it all seems very car-orientated, which isn't helping me that much to be honest, but it's mandatory, so what the hell. I asked frank again, when can i have my first lesson already. He told me it would be better if i were to take part in the bike-only theoretical course first, which is on may 9th, before i start riding. D'oh!. I am a patient person, but man, that's like 3 weeks from now, and that sucks. I suppose it gives me more time to get all my gear and things in order, but it's still hard to be signed up for a license for nearly a month, without even having tested riding once. So i got some really good news today, and then some really crappy news, but i guess there's nothing to complain about really, everything is still on schedule. After class it was back to work and the usual routine took place. Now i'm curious to see what the saturday will bring, or rather, what i will bring home with me.

April 21st 2009
Had my 3rd class today, and it was good fun. I finally handed in my first-aid certificate and got my contract signed, so they should be sending it out to the authorities this week probably. I also kept bugging frank, the teacher, to finally get me on a bike and start this stuff. Maybe this weekend?, i'm not sure, it's really up to him, since i always have time. Big load off my chest though getting that paper signed, so now i'm ready to go whenever. Tomorrow they are doing car-only lessons again, so i can't go to class. Thursday will be the 4th lesson, from the 12 mandatory ones. Finger is healing nicely, work is good as always, everything is going according to plan.

I decided it was a good idea to get myself some visors for my helmet before they are all sold out, since they were on sale with 70% off. My helmet is from 2004 and they don't even make them anymore. Grabbed one of each, since i only have a clear one and a dark one. Never know, i might scratch them or something. Better safe than sorry. Also i think that the rainbow and silver mirrored ones will look awsome, hehe.

April 18th 2009
There are few words which can explain the lameness of my morning, but i shall try. It's been years since i finished school or had anything to do with the sort, so this was really, physical and mental torture. I showed up at the first-aid place a bit before 8am and saw a little crowd outside already. Waited until the teacher, who must have been nearly 80 let us in the room and took my seat. I would now stay in that seat until 3pm. Basically, the course and things that we got taught are well worth hearing and definatly freshened up my knowledge of them, but stretching a probably 1 hour course into a 7 hour course, is torture!. There was a lame break every hour or so which only made things suck more, since time passed so very slowly. In the afternoon at around 2pm everyone seemed to get a little more talkative and happy, but only because they knew it was over soon. Again, i was the only guy doing a bike license, so most of the motorbike stuff was directed at me, which was good i guess. Grandpa seemed to like me, hehe. Right off the bat we had a young, very loud pair of friends who basically whispered through the entire thing and made fun of grandpa without him realizing it. Sadly tho, everyone else did, which is kinda mean i guess, but come on!, 7 hours!. Most of the time he contradicted his own words anyways, like wanting us to grab the left arm of the display person, and saying now grab the right arm!. Everyone was very confused at his old ways, really, everyone. I guess the funniest part was sometime around lunch, when the loud teens phone rang and his ringtone said "attention, the sexiest man in the room is getting a call". Very over the top pathetic, but i did have to laugh at that. I was the 3rd last to get my paper signed, but once that happened i was free, free!. Now i got all the papers the school requires and so they should be sending out my test application or however you call it in english, this week. Tuesday is the next lesson and who knows, maybe i can even get some bike lessons going this week. That would be sweet. For now tho, as you might have guessed, sun and beer are a great combination!. Prost!.

April 16th 2009
Today i spent most of the morning sleeping on and off. For some reason i keep waking up after 4-5 hours sleep, but i got nothing to do during mid-day, so why not just lazy around. Later on i headed off to my 2nd lesson at school and it was good fun. I handed in my eye exam certificate and managed to get a hold of some of my study gear, so i can spend the weekend learning my theoretical stuff. Right after school i took the 45min bike ride up to work and did my usual stuff there. While showing off to a co-worker with a backflip, i landed a bit wrong and managed to sprain my middle finger slightly, doh!. Hurts a bit and should be a little swollen by tomorrow, but nothing too major. I can still type and control a throttle no problem, hehe. Next school lesson is on tuesday, since they are doing car-only stuff on monday, so i got some time to chill, although my saturday will be spent at that first-aid training course. Once i got that stupid certificate they can finally send off my application to the city or wherever it goes, berlin?, and then i should be able to start some physical moto lessons. All in all things are looking good and the weather is playing along very nicely. Sun and beer are a great combination!.

April 15th 2009
Well, as i thought, i got the bad news phone call this morning. The guy said even if they could find an old record of mine there's no point because it wouldn't be valid anymore. Looks like i'll be wasting my saturday playing with a plastic chest, yay. Since i was awake now i took a shower and headed into town to fill my bank account and take my free eye exam. No problems with the peepers, so now it's time to enjoy the sun and have a few beers before heading to work. Sadly i'll have to ride my bike, without a motor, doh!.

April 14th 2009
Finally, today was the day when i could head out and get some things done. I wasted most of the early afternoon, and then hopped on my bike and headed off to the driver's school at 4:30pm. I signed up and handed in what i already had with me, a photo. It didn't take too long, and would have been even shorter if i hadn't asked so many questions, hehe, but i tried to inform myself as much as i could as to how the whole process goes. Now i had around 90 minutes until the lessons would start, so i quickly headed over to the first-aid office to see if i could somehow dig up a certificate to show that i've already done the first-aid training course back in 2002. Of course it was just a bunch of bored teenagers sitting there and they couldn't really help me, so i left my name and number and they said the boss, or whoever, would call me in the morning to see if i still have some records in the database. Not satisfied i headed home and called another first-aid place to see if they maybe have some records of mine, but the girl quickly informed me that you have to repeat the course every 2 years anyways, so my guess is tomorrows phone call won't bring any good news. Looks like i'll be taking it again this saturday, ah well. Being home i also took the time to do some banking and send a good chunk of money to the school. Took a few minutes to gather some energy and then headed back off towards the school. When i got there i was a few minutes late, whoops!. It was also odd to notice that i was the only male in the entire room, except for the instructor. 7 or 8 girls, all doing their car license, and then there was me, doing my motorcycle thing, hehe. Most of the lesson was spent with parking cars and the do's and don'ts. I realized that i really don't know that much about the common street signs as i had thought i did, so i kept quiet and just tried to soak it all in, for now. At 8:30pm the lessons were over and those ladies disappeared almost instantly. Not me tho, i still had a few questions. The instructor, frank, informed me that tomorrow and monday they are doing car-specific lessons only, so i don't need to show up, doh!. Looks like my next lesson will be on thursday, which will give me some time to get the rest of the files i need, and do some money transferring. Since it was getting late now i headed off straight to work and got there at 9:20pm. Back in my zone, the typical work stuff followed and soon i was back home, writing this entry. I must have biked over 20km today, which isn't exactly what i consider fun, but it had to be done. Tomorrow i'm going to get my eye-test done and stock up the bank account, so i can get my learning material and have a buffer for the lessons to come. All in all it was an action packed afternoon and by the looks of things i could have this whole saga wrapped up by august, that's a decent goal. Good night!.

April 12th 2009
By now i think i've read every forum page regarding the yzf and know already exactly how i want to style mine. At night i decided to build this webpage so family and friends can follow my adventure. This weekend seems endless and i can't wait to get my ass to school on tuesday and finally start this mission.

April 11th 2009
I still wasn't sure exactly which school to pick as there are quite a few nearby, so once again the day was spent with browsing websites and trying to find the best one. After reading a crapload of positive comments on their website, and being the same one a co-worker of mine is also currently in, i decided i would go with oltmanns. She said the two instructors, one being a friend of hers, are really good and well, the website guestbook confirmed this. The price range is pretty much the same at every school anyways so I don't really care if i save a few euro here or there, I just want to start and learn!.

It's a long four day easter weekend now and i'm driving myself insane (no pun intended) because the only thing on my mind is getting my ass to a school and starting this mission. I set myself the goal to have this all done before august, and that seems quite possible. Patience, patience.

Today i got my co-worker to pick me up and we headed off to the yamaha dealer close to my work. I took a look at the yzf which you can see in the picture below. Had a little test sitting, as i really thought i would be too small for it. No problems here, it felt perfect and i pretty much decided right then and there, this will be my first bike. We both headed off to work afterwards and i spent pretty much the rest of the day hyping myself and talking about motorcycles with him. For me this is a giant step into a new life and a very, very exciting one.

April 8th 2009
Today i had the spontaneous idea to get my motorbike drivers license. Since i am 26 it allows me to get the unlimited one right away. This means i will be able to ride any motorcycle without performance limitations. If you are below 25 they limit you to 80km/h no matter how fast a bike you have. I headed around the corner to the closest school and checked out the prices and to see how fast the whole process could be done. Still being a little unsure i went back home and started googling for the bike i want, a 2009 yamaha yzf-r 125 in burning blue. This would go along with my blue yzf-r1 minibike and helmet which i got like 4 years ago, as you can see in the pictures below.
